FUNSports Ambassadors
Our Ambassadors are incredible Role Models. They are Leaders and they are one of the reasons why our organization continues to thrive and expand. These inspiring volunteers give up their time to help continue the cycles of leadership created by FUNSports. We love our Ambassadors and we represent them in a number of ways which include * Public speaking appearances * Marketing and Sponsorship opportunities * Hosting sport camps so they can share their knowledge We also help our Ambassadors find new opportunities and reach higher levels of competition.
Bret Himmelman
Canoe/Lacrosse
Bret is a multi-sport athlete who has competed and excelled in canoeing, lacrosse, hockey and cross country among other sports. Bret has competed internationally in canoeing on Team Canada, winning medals at the World Cup, Pan American Championships and a bronze medal in front of a home crowd at the World Championships in 2022. Bret has continued to be a multi-sport athlete while being on the Canadian Canoe team, being a university lacrosse all-star and captain of Saint Mary’s University, playing junior hockey and coaching paddling, lacrosse and hockey over the years, along with volunteering with the FunSports Organization.
Sophia Jensen
Canoe
Sophia Jensen is a long-time member of the National sprint canoe team. She has competed in numerous Junior World Championships, Senior World Championships, World Cups, and National level competitions. She is extremely outdoorsy and loves giving back to the younger generations. Sophia is also a ten-time World Champion and aspiring Olympic Champion. Sophia is not only a paddler, she also competes in cross-country skiing and used to play soccer, volleyball, and cross-country running. Sports are a big part of Sophia’s life and she hopes to share her joy in sports with others.
Connor Fitzpatrick
Canoe
Connor Fitzpatrick is a key member of the Canadian National Men’s Canoe Team. He has competed internationally for Canada at numerous Senior World Championships and currently holds the all time Canadian C2 record time. Connor is a Canadian Champion in the C1, C2 and C4 categories. Connor also coaches at Senobe his home paddling club. Connor played as many sports as he could growing up because he simply loved them all. Connor is a super multi-sport athlete; he plays golf, hockey, ping pong, tennis, basketball. Connor said “I love to help out with FUNSports as I think this is a great program for getting kids interested in sport at a young age and maybe an opportunity to do something that they might love and turn into a career.
Julia Lilley
Canoe
Julia is a member of the Canadian National Women’s Canoe Team. She is a senior and junior world champion in C-4 and C-2 500m. Julia has represented Canada since 2016. She splits her time between training and attending Dalhousie Univeristy, where she is studying Computer Science. Before her senior career, Julia was also a coach at her home club, Mic Mac AAC. Working with kids is a passion of hers, as she believes teamwork and community is an essential part of a kids development. Julia has proudly worked with Funsports for 3 years as a volunteer in an effort to share her passion for sports with the next generation.
